Gail Ratcliffe: studied creative embroidery with Judith Bell.
Much of Gail's work is inspired by landscapes around the U.K that she has visited over the years. She works from memories and photos and translates these into paper collage before deciding on textiles and threads. Rather than reproducing the real world, Gail tries to capture the mood and atmosphere that the place engendered.
Recently she has become interested in 3D pieces tht stand alone rather than hang on a wall and is currently exploring the possibilities offered by combining hand-made felt with other textiles and threads.
